Good afternoon readers, who else is enjoying this gorgeous weather we are having? Grabbing a book from your Dakota Bookcase and heading outside for a nice read under the sun has definitely been the way to go recently. Ah, the joys of summer.
However, it doesn’t seem that everyone has been enjoying the weather as I have seen a few tweets asking for the rain to come back? Granted a bit of rain right now wouldn’t go a miss with my garden grass looking like a safari desert, but having a heatwave is nothing but great for tourism and businesses.
Anyway, let’s head away from the weather as it can be a ‘hot’ topic and discuss what book is perfect for a calm relaxing read outside. The Secret Garden has to be one of the most relaxing yet thrilling reads written by the author Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The book is about a young girl who is sent to live with her uncle after her parents passed away. His mannerisms and sorrow leaves her feeling alone and neglected once more. As she began to wonder around the estate she discovered a garden which had become hidden and aided by one of the servant boys they start to bring it back to its former glory days.
Sounds amazing right? That’s because it is. If you feel you have a slight recollection of this wonderful story then you may have well watched on your TV screen, as it was converted to a movie by the director Angnieszka Holland in 1994.
I highly recommend giving the book ago as it truly does capture an entire mystery about how things can begin to change over time. Well, fellow readers on that I shall see you all tomorrow for the next daily blog here at Wooden Bookcases.
